Hi,

My house is pretty cold and can't afford to have the heating running all the time, and unfortunately our heating system doesn't have a thermostat control. All this means that the thermometer in the cold end of Basil's Faun often reads about 10C if the heating isn't on. His hot end is fine, the thermostat holds it at 27-28.5C. Is the low cold end temp a problem? I've noticed he hasn't been out and about much which I guess is due to this, but will it have any health effects? If it is a prob what can I do? Was considering another heat mat and stat set to a lower temp. I've moved him to a warmer side of the room but I'm a bit tied on that as my room has all fitted furniture! I'm pretty sure that the temp is about the same throughout my room any way.

Thanks

Should be fine. He will move around to adjust himself. I do not see the harm in running too mats on separate stats one set at 28 and one set at 18ish but that will be a lot if wires and more power being used x

You could try covering the faun when you go to bed this will keep the heat in during the coldest times and should increase the overall ambient temperature is the faun sat on anything? I the same thing found that sitting faun on some polystyrene helped a lot

I couldn't find any polystyrene when I set up so I have a couple of layers of fleece and some wadding underneath (like a quilt). I'll try covering and see if that helps, I think the coldest time is in the middle of the day probably, as there is no one in. Thanks!
