Hi Guys,
can any 1 give me any tips please on how to keep the ambient temps higher in one of these? came down this morning and it was 16oc which i think is abit too cold?? left the heating on full blow today and it is now around the 20oc mark... when my corn grows out of this and i move him in to a new viv i was hoping to get a hoggie but i know they need to be alot hotter 22 - 24oc ambient temps so i was wondering if there is any thing i can do to raise them temp with out have the heating on full blast all day every day?
thanks |

My ambient temperatures get to about 15 degrees and my corns are all fine. They just seem to spend more time either on the warm bit or closer to the warm end of their viv/rub/faun They're quite good at controlling their body heat if they have the option. All my corns have loads of hides so they can choose exactly where they feel most comfortable. |

i was thinking of getting a Ceramic heater for it and putting it on top of the monkfield but was wondering would it not crack the glass on top? |

Temps should only need to be upped a little temps shouldn't be hot enough to break the glass. Also with hobbies it good to give them a day and night cycle during the winter so the house lamp gives them clear day and night light levels x |

i have been reading loads on hoggies, so much more to know about them then corns really.. what kind of set up do yopu have for yours how would you suggest connecting a light to the monkfield? would a light on there not dry the air out too much? would you have any links to good lights and what would i need to do just stick a stat to it and put it on a timmer of 14 hours?
sorry for all the questions lol |

Depends where he is in the tank. Hand temperature is around 25-28C, so if the max temp you are running his mat at is 28C, he will feel cooler. |

Hoggies need super small set ups whilst growing. I found that temps hold better ambient wise, in a rub. I use a normal 40w bulb on a clip on fitting and clip it to the shelf hero is on x |
