They need either UVB (normally 5.0) or to be given nutrabol or something similar containing d3? Which is needed to bind calcium.

I have mats on my vivs on the side are on stats at 18 degrees.

I feed live, but only for enrichment, powdered food which is recommended ( clarks or repashy ) is a complete diet. But can be supplemented with live food (dusted with calci dust ) and fresh fruit (not banana or citrus)

Hi, i have 3 two year old cresties and 2 6month old gargs, is it a faunarium or terrarium you have? they need an arboreal set up really, ideally no smaller than the 45x45x45 model for adults, I would like to go bigger eventually, but they still have plenty of space to jump around after prey and have different places to hide etc. And when the gargs are older I will get a bigger terrarium as they are a slightly larger species. I have recently switched to the repashy diet which im very happy with, i used to use the zoo med powdder diet mixed with zoo med tropical mix in, but Ive found repashy to be an easier option. All my geckos seem to like repashy, i give it them every couple of days, and crickets dusted with calcium/d3 supplement every other feed. Therefore I don't bother with UV. I have a heat mat on the side stated to low to mid 20's. Hope that helps, anything else?

We keep our crestie in a 60 x 45 x 60 and he uses every inch of that space he lives on his own as we wanted a whole crestie. Couldn't get the temperatures right using a heat mat so we have an infrared bulb on top of the mesh roof on a dimming stat. Gives him a hot spot of 26c with a cool end of 22c we lower the stat at night so temps drop to 22c. We feed clarks gecko diet he won't touch any other Crested Gecko foods. He eats dubia roach most days dusted with repashy calcium plus and also eats a small amount of fresh fruit. Banana is his absolute favourite but should only be given as a special treat as according to some people it is a calcium binder. He has a small shallow bowl of water in his exo terra all the time. Substrate is humus with spraghnum moss on top and springtails added, they really help to keep the terrarium clean and humidity is kept at 55%-60% during the day and rises to 80%-90% after we spray him at night and still around 80% when we get up in the morning. Loads of plants and logs for him to climb around on. Must make sure the crestie has logs/vines that are almost horizontal, if everything is virtually vertical it can contribute to floppy tail syndrome. We have a digital thermometer in the cool end and warm end and a hydrometer central in the terrarium. Must not house two adult males together but a male and 1-2 females is fine or 2-3 females unless, like I said, you want a whole crestie then its best to house them separately. Oh and they are amazing little creatures full of character.

The tail thing is an issue. But females are normally ok. And as long as there's enough space you shouldn't have too much both. Sometime you can get an aggressive male or cage mate. I have two females together and have never seen them spat they come out together. I just make sure there's more than one food bowl and plenty of live ;)

Thanks guys right i just dug the ruler out and measured the exxo trra its a terrarium must learn the lingo lol its the 45x45x45 model what i was thinking is at the mo its on top of the snake rack but in jan when i shuffle everything around ill be building the new rack and was thinking of putting it on top the new rack could i use the excess cable thats on the rack ? (set to 28 for the corns) the ambient temperture in my front room is around 22-23 i have spare stats and mats if need be lol so if they have a uv light do they still need the powdered supplements ? i was thinking of getting a couple females i notice a lot of sellers advertise them as "incubated for female" so i assume they cant be sexed till they are older like beardies etc ?
can anyone reccomend a good book ?

Thanks a lot for all the help and info

You would be lucky to find a defo female younger than 6 months. There is NO proof that incubating for female works. For a defo female your looking at around 60-120 pounds depending on age. There are some for sale on the fb page. A 45x45x45 will be ok until they are nearly fully grown but 45x45x60 is the min for 1-3 geckos. Some get big lol ;)

Hi, 28c is the maximum for a crestie, anything over stresses them out, causes illness and even death. You may get away with your ambient temp so long as it doesn't drop to low. As far a I know you wont need D3 supplement if providing UV. I don't think that it is proven that incubating at different temperatures determines sex like it does in many other species, so you can't be sure. Males typically develop a heme-penal bulge and small black pores can be seen above the vent, maturity can be as early as 8months but can vary. Females don't have the bulge or pores, but it can be difficult determine when smaller. <- there are other posts and website that go into this in more detail with pics.

Thanks guys im gonan drive ya nuts with all my questions upgrading the terrarium later doesnt bother me in the slightest if it has to be done then so be it whatever keeps my animals happy lol is there a preference as to providing uvb or supplements is any one better than the other or any downsides ? is it just a personal preference thing im thinking the cable idea sounds a bit risky so ill just use a mat and stat setup its not an issue i just wondered lol do they need the heat constantly or just at night ? if they cant be sexed untill later is it safe/a good idea to buy 2 hatchlings at the same time or should i get one then wait till its sexable then get another if so are they ok just having another gecko put into the enclosure?

I use supplements personally they I can adjust if needed, they can have too much d3. Introducing is fine asking as you quarantine. I got one and waited until he is breeding weight he is 32g at the moment. And them bought two females that already live together and get on great. One of breeding weight (well over) at 45g. And another that was 24g but now on a proper diet has plumped up to 31g and is nearly up to size. Once she is they will both be jntroduced into goyles viv. They have all alreadyet and seem fine. If you getting a hatchling I'd recommend a smaller set up so you can monitor better x
