Hello to all

I have searched the forums and cannot find anything so its time to ask a question again.
We are suffering from mice and while i got rid of most by trapping a few will not eat my menu, i want to get a sonic repeller and wanted to make sure it would not affect Houdini...

Info: Sonic mouse and rat repellers produce over 100 decibels of ultrasound at constantly changing frequencies. The unit operates at frequencies that are too high for humans, cats and dogs to hear, but are within the hearing range of mice and rats. Each unit protects an area of at least 37 square metres from rodent infestation.

Any info will be appreciated as usual as i dont want to upset my little man..
Thank you

Donnie

Maybe call the manufacturer and ask them if they know if it will affect snakes or not? Snakes (as far as I am aware) do not hear sounds and pick up on vibrations only but it would be worth a phone call or two to be certain as it is an ultrasound device

Same as Donnie.

You don't have a dog or any other pet? It would drive a dog nuts.

The only real lasting solution is to seal your perimeter. otherwise you'll just keep getting mice.. (or other critters that couldn't care a wit about your ultrasonic do-dad)

Ha-ha-ha! Katie, it is one of the joys of youth and you will eventually grow out of it. I used to hear the 'line whistle' from a TV, even with the volume turned down. As I'm well on my way down the slippery slope of decrepitude I don't hear it any more. Now it's just the tinnitus that drives me nuts. Ain't life got a wonderful sense of humour.

My mother uses the Ultrasonic things in her house in France. They do seem to work and don't worry her six dogs. The only time you hear one is when it is at the end of its life, when it should be thrown away. FWIW I don't think it will effect your snake.

As I understand it (and I may be entirely wrong) snakes auditory sense isn't hearing it's sensing vibration and it's tuned toward lower notes (bass), super high-frequency/ultrasonic is high-pitch so theoretically they wouldn't detect it. If you chose to use them and the ultrasonic works please let me know, as we have a few mice that have gotten in to the house too and they're avoiding the mousetraps (humane, of course)

I dont have Rats anymore as during the summer they all came within 6ft of my back door and at some times we counted 5 on the birdtable, i refuse to use poison as its a slow death but my 22 rifle did come out i have to say... If they were at the back of the garden they would of got left alone but that belongs to the foxes and her cubs lol...

chocolate or juicy fruit chewing gum worked wonders on traps last time we got mice. Not a clue about the fancy gizmo traps though

I can recommend AGAINST the Big Cheese Humane traps. Bought a couple and it caught the mouse during the night. Said mouse proceeded to pig out on all the Nutella I put in there, poop a bit and then squeeze it's butt back out. Going to try a compartment humane trap and if that doesn't work then I'll get a typical neck-snapper trap.
