My boa's viv is horrible and boring...! She's in a 5 x 2 foot viv and all she has is a cat tray of water and a rabbit hide thing. Is there anything I can put in to pimp it out a big without just taking up all her floor space. I'd like to leave her as much room as possible cause she's a bit of a chunk! |

You can get the ones made for parrots and such and they have the end soaked in glue making them solid and you could screw through the top of the viv through. I will try and find what I mean lol x |

Ok I think it's heat shrink ends you want and you should be able to screw into or bolt through it. I the k the Manila natural rope with shrink ends works out about 6 pounds for 2 metres x |

Instead of glueing the ends of the rope, ask your saddler to braid in proper end loops with a decent eye-bolt at each end. Attach to the sides by drilling a hole and fit using 2-3 inch spreader plates inside and out. Another idea is to use a snap link between the eye-bolt and rope loop. (Whatcha callit? Carabiners.) These mean that you can use a smaller eye-bolt and a thicker rope. Plus it makes it easy to remove and change around. http://www.safetyliftingear.com/home/subgroup.asp?groupid=14&subgroupid=6
Here's the sort of thing your local blacksmith could easily make for you. http://www.angliatoolcentre.co.uk/fencing-eye-bolt-with-nuts-and-washers-m10-x-200mm-bright-zinc-plated-pid38705.html?gclid=COWKhpzm4rMCFU3HtAod2kUAbQ
You could add one as a 'runner' and attach it mid-way on the rear of the viv. A simple knot on either side of the eye bolt/ carabiner would stop slippage or maybe use a binding, sort of figure of eight around rope and eye-bolt.
I definitely would not rely on a screw fixing alone to support 7kg of Boa. |
