Sorry if this has been covered, but I couldn't find specifically.
I'm curious on opinions of choice of thermostats for a corn snake viv.
There's obviously several different brands, but more specifically different types from basic on/off switching, pulse switched and even those which auto-detect light levels to reduce for night time temp drop.
I'm curious on experienced users preferences. My engineering mind assumed the pulse type to provide a more consistent heat, but I'm intrigued too, as to the importance of night time drop for corns, or if this is more critical for other varieties.
I am away on odd occasional nights, so if a night time function is desirable then I'd consider this route.
Opinions please guys and gals? |

| pulse stats keep better temps for mats, night time drops for corns isnt necessary. |

| I have several brands on the on/ff stats (Habistat,Mirco climate,Komodo) and i have a micro climate pulse stat the on/off stats run my rack (cable) and my viv stack (mats) the pulse stat runs my Royals heatmats though before i had to move them into rubs it was running a ceramic i personally find that i get the least fluctuation in temps using the habistat or komodo stats the microclimate drops too low before kicking back in for my liking but im sure ull get a differing opinion from everyone who replys lol |

Habistats for me. Pulse stat (*600 watt) for ceramic heater. Standard 100watt mat stat for mats wired for multiples. I've found both versions stable and reliable.

| I use mat stats and found with the monk field viv's that they hold within a degree. When used with rubs I get a 1.75 degree difference. So I think that for the cost I will stick to mat stats :) but pulse if cost is not an issue are better x |

| Habistat temperature thermostat 300w is what I use on my mats. Cut in at 28.1c and out at 28.9c. I have a habistat mat stat but don't find this to be as good at keeping a steady temperature, also more fiddly to alter the dial on these ones. Also have a pulse on the ceramic and that is excellent at keeping a constant temperature. I have a Gecko (same as lucky reptile in design) and this is digital display and is spot on so that makes a change from most stats. The lucky reptile digital thermo control pro ll that I have is not as accurate, 2c out but does hold a steady temperature you can also set up different temperatures for different times of the day so could do a night drop on it if wanted and run a light or other device on the built in timer. Have tried microclimate but it was way out cutting in at 24c and not cutting out until 32c hated the thing. |

| I use a microclimate stat and two habistat pulse stats. The pulse stats are by far the better option imo as they keep the temperature much more stable. However the snake which has the microclimate stat (temp varies by up to 5 degrees!) is absolutely fine, eating, shedding and pooing and growing like mad so I don't think it really matters too much. |

Alan can you get a pic of your pulse stat. Reason I ask is I've only ever known one other person say they have a 300 watt pulse. Habistat don't list one all they show in 300 w are, temp stat. Twin stats an cool stats. The other person was sold hers as a pulse stat but when she toke a pic its was just a temp stat. Trying to work out if this is one of the ones habistat manufacture as ranges for shops only an don't list themselfs like the mat stat with hardwired mat we saw once. |

Chris. My mistake with the rating. The one I have is actually 600 watt but was listed as Low Range as opposed to the 600 watt High Range.
It looks like Habistat has since brought out a new replacement version 600 watt High Range and streamlined the range.
Still great value at £32.63 as mine originally cost £34.

Thought I was going mad trying to find one on Google haha. They do both dimming an pulse in normal an high range. But only the normals in day/night. |
