I tell you what, I have had pet dogs and cats for over 40 years, have raised 3 children and have 6 grandchildren and nothing, absolutely nothing has ever been as frightening as watching Kitty struggle to eat her first Fluffy . She was hungry, so when I dropped it in she was straight onto it, even as I looked and thought "Oh, NO, it's massive!!!" I ran to get 2 pinkies out to quickly defrost then saw that she'd got it half way down. I'm thinking "her jaw will NEVER go back"; then "her skins going to pop" THEN she got it down and now she's sleeping it off and I'm checking in case it comes back-up!! Mind, she's been on 2 x pinkies and they haven't been causing a bump!! How stressed am I?

I fed my snake a fluffy for the first time last week and felt the same but she was fine :) Just being over cautious! I'm sure she'll be fine too

Scary, isn't it? I'm still like that with mine, even after going through all the sizes. It's when they appear to be stuck half way through, when I panic

Yes, Razee, at one point she was there with the back feet and tail sticking out of her mouth with a big bulge in her throat and I'm thinking "How do get a snake to Drop-it?" , no probs with the dogs! My problem is that she's the same width as the pinkies but the fuzzis/fluffys look twice as wide as her!!

I so understand what you mean. I worry about my animals far more than I did my children. Not sure if that makes me a 'bad' mother......oh well they grew up ok!!!

moving up asize is a daunting thing, well for us anyway! I've had that 'oh he's never going to eat that, what was i thinking' moment every time i've moved the boys up a size! when 8 first moved to smalls i thought he was going to pop then i was expecting a regurge, he wasnt bothered in the slightest.

You would be surprised what they can manage. Sirae ate a jumbo mouse the other day (sold as large, bonus!); she weighs 197 grams, and the mouse weighed 37 grams.

Apart from an extra day of digesting, there were no problems. And I've got larges now...

Thanks everyone - feeling less anxious now!! It just took her so long to manage to get at it - she lunged and tried sideways, then head-first twice but just couldn't seem to get started! Now have to bin 2 pinkies - !!

It's always scary when they go up a size. I'm kind of excited about being able to put Aphro and Apollo up a size soon, but kind of nervous too. The snakes always seem completely unphased, it's just me that's worried.

Oh my, I am sure this is how I will feel next Saturday when I'll give Discordia her first fluff... I'll skip the posting part and just come read this thread again :p Thanks about that! I see we're all quite alarmed with this big step. Good to know I'm not nuts. Or at least I am not alone.
