Hello everyone. I have very recently acquired 2 snakes from someone who wanted rid, they were going to send them to a sanctuary and couldn't help but take them of her hands. I have had a milk snake for a few years and he seems to be picking up the scents of the new corns. He is very nervous. I have started using a hand gel before handling all of them so that the scent is minimised. My question is, will he get used to the scents? How long will this take? And is there anything else that I can do to make him feel more comfortable? Any replies will be useful. Thanks! Greg |

Welcome to the forum
Apollo was very very interested in the scents of my new corn snakes but that only lasted about a fortnight then he got bored of it. I guess it may take a little longer than that if he is fearful of them.
Are they living in the same room? |

Hi, thanks for the welcomes. Yea he is in a bit of a smaller viv, and is placed on top of the larger one for the two corns. I have been to my local pet store and he says he will get used to them. So like you said maybe in a couple of weeks he will have calmed down. He also said to get the milk snake out before the corns as they can be aggressive when getting other scents. He told me of a story where he got his corn out before the milk and the milk constricted round his hand and wouldn't let go for 30mins! Cheers!! |
