Two years ago my mum could hardly sit in our longe with just the one snake that we had. Two years on and she can now sit happily watching them all and will touch the corn snakes when we get them out. Well this saturday she surprised us by asking to hold our 4 month old royal Nigel. We carfeully placed him in her hands and the look on her face was amazing. She was so proud of herself. She did get a little worried when he started to move but she said this was because she was worried she might sqeeze him and hurt him. I really do think this is quite an amazing thing for someone who could barely sit in a room with one. Well done Mum x x.

Oh, well done Mum! She's much braver than me, I'm scared of spiders - the furthest I got is touching a tarantula shed skin! ( very, very briefly ).

Since having George my grandfather has refused to visit unless I take the viv upstairs. It is work in progress, but he's feared snakes since he was young and is now 70. Fingers crossed he will get over it

my best friend is terrified of my snakes....which isn't too great for her seen as she was flat sitting as Ive been on holiday for a fortnight. I fed Percy up before I went so she agreed she would be able to change the water every two days, but was too scared of poor beebee to even have her in the flat (many thanks to Blackecho for looking after her for me!) so imagine my surprise when im sat in turkey and get a picture message of my friend holding percy! she has totally overcome her fear and now thinks percy is the coolest thing ever!x

I think alot of people who have a fear of snakes assume they are cold and slimy to touch and that they wiggle when they move like they are shown doing in films. She said that once she had plucked up the courage to just place a finger on part of a snakes body she realised just how wrong she was and she could almost feel that fear starting to subside. My niece is also terrified of snakes she sits perched on the sofa ready to make a quick escape if she should see one. I am hoping that she may one day be as brave as my mum. Surely a 20 year old wont let her 67 year old grandmother be braver than her lol.

Well done! I have had similar success with my gf although she refuses to let me put the pic up on Facebook due to the look on her face! :D unfortunately, both my parents are completely anti snakes as pets, so no chance of ever getting them to do as well as your mum.
