Hey, I'm sure i'm worrying without reason, but; my snake had been staring at the roof of her viv, for a while apparently. I have not witnessed this as she lives with my boyfriend whilst some work is being done on my house. anyway, he, being a pessimist, is convinced she has "mad snake disease" and will most likely be put to sleep. I have never noticed her head bobbing or acting unbalanced or anything. Do you think it's worth me taking her to a vet just in case, or will i be wasting their time? |

Almost 100% certain it is just normal posture. Head raised and sitting stock still for a while, more day-dreaming than stargazing. Mine all do it quite often and not just the Corns.
One typical stargazing symptom is shown when the snake 'flips' over uncontrollably and can't right itself. I *think* it is mainly confined to Sun Kissed morphs.
GMac is the expert on the subject and will correct any details but I really think you are right about your boyfriend being a pessimist.

agree with auld baldy, you would also notice this if it was a gazer from the secoind you saw it. Gazers dont have good and bad days just bad days.

Hi, Corny does same. When he's out, he can be moving round like he has somewhere to be then all of a sudden he'll stop & stare. He's either doing a poo, day-dreaming of mice or watching tv!
I'd say it sounds like your snake is doing exactly same & you have nothing to worry about.
Don't let your boyf diagnose her again! |
