Geek here. I've dabbled in web design and digital artwork, I find most internet memes funny (favourite currently has to be Dolan), and science is my favourite subject by far. Was always getting called a geek by my friends for knowing (what I consider rather generic) certain facts about animals, space etc.
I'm a MMORPGer. My other half is as well, and in fact we initially made contact through World of Warcraft. We didn't just play either, we were part of a very successful horde raiding guild called Maelstrom/Exodus which my other half mastered for a time being, and I was an officer. He sorted out an entire zero sum DKP system for our guild.. very geeky (but oh so good).
My other half builds his PCs and is teaching me how to do it. He's extremely knowledgeable about everything to do with them and it's rubbing off on me. We can enjoy pretty geeky conversations with other people.
I dunno.. what else makes a geek? It's one of those things where, if you're not surrounded by your "own kind" you'll suddenly realise you're different somehow :D |

I get am a self confessed nerd/geek for books/games/music/football/pets/knowledge.
Mostly lotr, star wars, game of thrones sort of stuff. Lots of reading of epic fantasy books
Biggest hobbies are my aquariums, and getting tattooed. Both my arms are done and now working on my legs hurts lots but is very very addictive.
Game wise: used to big into Everquest and WoW but no longer play either, stick to Skyrim and Football Manager these days.
Oh and MASSIVE football fan growing up in Wembley (it went with the territory), my club is Chelsea
When I was younger was in to the warhammer stuff also: Bretonian Army (in Standard Warhammer) and Space Wolves (40K) if I remember correctly. |

In my eyes the way of classification is as follows
Geek= sci fi/ comics, computers Nerd = intellect, useless facts, talks about science and generally annoying
going by this I am a nerd, not geek |

I read almost constantly and write almost constantly too. I also spent a lot of time playing World of Warcraft (start of TBC to end of WotLK), I collect and paint Warhammer 40k miniatures and spend a large amount of my time sleeping in the woods studying nature/wildlife.
I don't know whether that means I'm a geek/nerd or just a guy with hobbies. I certainly wouldn't describe myself as a geek, but I'm sure others would.

If Game of Thrones is geeky then most people in the western world qualify for geekdom lol! |

That Han Solo is pretty impressive. I am saving for a Stormtrooper armour set. But probs wont get one til i get a bigger house (wouldnt quite fit in my flat). My living room is a shrine to Star Wars lol
I collect comics also.
Used to paint Warhammer figures in my younger years (never played the game tho).

Thumbs up for a nother Trooper! Please don't buy your armour from ebay though, it's not the best quality and can be overpriced for the kit you get!!!! try RS Propmasters as their kit is excellent. Any other advice on armour just ask :)
I used to have a set of Iron man armour too which I loved but had to sell :( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alGS-xLluFI |

I'm another one in to urbex ... have been frequenting derelict buildings for coming up to 7 years now and the smell of decay never gets old.
Another hobby is PC gaming though, huge Counter-Strike fan! Oh and 1/5 scale RC cars ... another of my obsessions. |

I didn't think RC cars were geeky, but if so I do have 4 Nitro cars (Savage 4.6, 2 Hellfire Truggies and a rush evo), I also play COD on PS3. I only buy 1 game a year for my ps3 and it has to be COD. Can't wait for the new Black Ops, special editions were announced this week. I play in a clan every Fri, Sat and Sun night.
It seems I'm geekier than i first thought! |

I play a lot of PS3 (25 Platinums). Tho not COD games, not a massive FPS fan. Only FPS's i'll play are Killzone games. COD games are just getting a bit to repetitive and the ease for cheaters is annoying, and a lot of players online are the bitchiest.
Thanks for the info on the Trooper armour! |

Re acer - have you tried airlayering? Sango kaku maple was the first one I tried to airlayer and it worked! It's slightly slower growing on its on roots than the parent tree, but doing well. You can also try acers from seed, pick the seeds of a basic Japanese mountain maple ( don't try any cultivars, they tend to be infertile and if anything comes out, it's weak) in November/ December, stratify in the fridge over winter and sow in spring. As long as it's the normal mountain maple, they should come up ok, and they are naturaly very variable ( bit like normal corn snakes :-) ), so there might be a real gems in amongst your seedlings. Just bear in mind the leaves look strange in the first year and only show their true colours and shapes in their second year.
Sorry for shamelessly highjacking this thread, couldn't resist...
I have tried the whole seed thing with acers and nothing happened. All that time waiting with seeds in the fridge etc. Very disappointing. I have a couple of nice oak seedlings, some olive seedlings and even a Baobab which I am growing from seed (it'll be quite a few years before I can do much with it but I get to see the whole of its development). Just no luck with maples, the seeds never seem to do anything.
I might have to consider air layering though, I didn't think of that even though I have a nice air layered chunk from a crab apple.
Thorne, I love the picture, where did you find that? |

I'm a massive fan of Star Wars, Dexter, Sons of Anarchy, LOTR, Firefly, Alien, Game of Thrones, etc.
Used to play 40K in the form of Necromunda.poopat painting, but excellent at building scenery out of card and beer cans.
