Hello Everyone,
Complete newbie here on snakes. Planning to get a corn in the next 2/3 months, just want to do lots of reseach before hand. So have been lurking in the shaddows for a while but thought its now time to say hi
My background is as follows: Had a lepoard gekko when I was little, kept fish/aquariums for the last 3/4 years.
Me and the missus are buying our own house and we cannot have dogs/cats because we work 7-6 5 days a week. We always loved snakes (parents on both sides wouldnt allow us em when younger) and decided where better to start than with a Corn
Cannot wait. Just reading up loads at the moment. Any advise/tips are most welcome. |

Thank you guys for the very warm welcome
I dont even know where to start on the morphs side of things just very excited to get a snake. The missus said that it cannot have red eyes as they scare her LOL
Would I be better to get a hatchling or yearling?? I thought hatching so I could watch it grow and develop, but dont know if it is suitable with me being a novice???
Sooooooooooooooooo excited
Going to a local reptile shop tomorrow for a quick look & get some ideas :)
Cheers Sean |

Welcome to the forum
I have a hatchling and a yearling at the moment. I got the yearling first but it wasn't because I wanted a yearling specifically, I just liked him . My hatchling is quicker moving than my yearling who is more calm and tends to move slower. I think it is lovely to have the chance to watch a snake mature from a hatchling and I am excited to see how Titan, my hatchling, changes as he grows.
However the choice of hatchling or yearling (or even adult) is very much personal preference. A well handled yearling may be slower and calmer than a hatchling (as well as being a little less tiny) but it would depend on the snake. |

Just a little update, after visiting some shops and handling some baby corns/hoggies and kings came home and went to family gathering. Where snakes randomly popped up in convo, and told them our future plans. Long story short in december we will be adopting a adult california King snake from a distant family member whos chidren lost interest in it. We would rather give it a loving home than leave it forgotten, oooh and shes a beauty :)
Cannot wait now. We will still be on here and the king site also for some more help :)
Bad thing is we have to wait till december to get her as she is in scotland and we are down south. Long 5/6 hour drives ahead lol
I know its a king and all but heres a few pics:

Hi there, although I am also new to this site, I have been reading up lots and have discovered that there are some really good reptile couriers out there and for a reasonable price (under £50 I have been reading) you could have your new baby couriered to you? :o) (I'm not good with patience lol) |

Hi and welcome. My advice would be to get a couple of vivs because snakes are addictive and you won't stop at just one!!;)
