Hi all,
I was feeding Tango twice a week after the advice from the guy in the pet store. Now i've change that to every five days after the advice from you kind people on here.
I got a set of digital scales today. Does this sound ok.

4 month old, length is 16inch( give r take an inch) weight is 15g. Do these sound about right for the age. I hope that feeding him twice a week hasn't made him overweight. He looks fine just want to put my mind at rest.

Also is it safe to get Tango's sex by probing at this age. The guy in the pet store said he was male. He had male on one side of the rack and females on the other, so I guess they could get mixed up. I dont mind if he is male or female, would just like to know.

Also got myself a dslr, so hopefully get some pictures on soon.

Thanks in advance.
Neil.

Hello Neil,

every 5-6 days is fine at that age and size. He's unlikely to get overweight this young, he'd have just grown faster.
Some ( often American ) breeders feed every 3 days, but that's because they're trying to push their hatchlings to get to breeding size quickly. It's not necessarily that good for the snakies, as their digestive systems doesn't get a chance to recover from one meal before the next one comes along.
Also, as you shouldn't handle 48 h after feeding, you don't get that much chance to handle them.
I'd wait to probe him until he's a bit bigger, just to be on the safe side. I've been told it's better when they reach around 2 - 3 ft? I might be wrong on this one, though. Someone more experienced will be able to tell you.

The bigger the better for probing, depending on who is doing the probing of course.
He should still be able to be popped at 16inches but make sure a professional does it!
