I love all the close up photos showing detail in the clearest form which the camera on my Galaxy S3 just cannot replicate.
My question is, what cameras do you use and can you show us an example photo? |

I recently bought this one. Was looking at a DSLR but decided I did not want to carry around a big case when we were out so I decided on a compact instead. Not as good a quality as a DSLR (goes without saying) but certainly good enough for me.

Here are a few of the picture I have taken with it. The quality on here is not as good as the originals as photobucket compresses it.
The lighting is pretty bad in the last three and I did not have the flash on but the detail of the scales was pretty good. |

I mentioned it on the FB page, but it depends on the style of shots you want. DSLR's use lenses which allow far more light in, and are far more flexible than other cameras. It's not all about the body, if you want good macro pictures on the cheap, buy something like a 1100D Canon (£~330 inc. lens) and be prepared to EASILY take some of the best pictures you've taken. I tried to avoid getting a DSLR for as long as possible, but it just opened up avenues I didn't think possible, and just made the things so much easier. |

I have a Canon EOS 500D DSLR, could probably get one for less than £400 + plus endless choice of lenses. I just make do with the standard 18-55mm lense with a cheap macro attachment for macro (kind of like a magnifying glass that attaches to the end, reduces quality but gets some interesting shots, can be diffuclt to focus with a target that wont keep still). Im not great, but heres an example -
Bear in mind this guy is fair tiny.
I would love a lense with a much smaller min focus distance, but thats getting expensive. My old digital camera used to be great at that, but obviously not the quality of a DSLR. |

I use a nikon D60 (its an older model) and its just an entry-level SLR... Its more about the lens and the light tbh rather than the body of the camera (I've found anyway..)

I have a DSLR, a nikon D80 and wouldnt be without it (however, i do photography as a hobbie and have a as level in it so i need a dslr really). I love DSLR's as they are so versitile and would always recomend them. However i know how annoying i is carrying aroiund so much in a bag (i want to get a rucksack for them which are really good). You can get some smaller versions of DSLRS if you look around and with regards to cost check out ebay argos and also warehouseexpress. can get some decent small DSLRS for about £300. |

Oh and totally agrea with what others have said..it is more about the lense and lighitng than the body..just make sure got decent pixle count..also if you can and have time to shoot in raw mode then get programe called adobe lightroom..fa ntatsic programme makes alot of difference to pictures. |

From a brief look that doesnt look to bad to me interchangeable lesnes are always a bonus as like previously said lenses/lighting make all the difference and having maual/macro settings are good but would be interested to find out what the shutterspeed/ appature settings are. However i dont know much about Olymous (ive always used nikon) i know their cameras are meant to be good quality but not sure about lenses, ydo u know if other lense can be used or if have to be olymous.. However if you looking at that price would still recomend getting a DSLR, it would be a bit more but far more versitile...something like this is good (but shop around) http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-canon-eos-1100d-digital-slr-camera-body/p1523929. IF you can it worth trying the camera out first before u buy as well so u can see what the pictures are like:) |

I shall give you the secret to cheap Photography equipment. I studied photography and found a little known gem for picking up cheap photography kit.
Cash Converters!
When people get skint, lenses and cameras are easily put up for money, they are sold for a song. If you have one local go have a look at what they have, its second hand but its all good stuff as they dont give money out for tripe. |
