As above, 37 inches is quite long for a yearling, how are you measuring it?

Are you 100% sure of his age? Could he be slightly older than what you think?

That size is definitely higher than average, but not overly large for an adult (non age specific), it could be that it has been fed frequently accelerating its growth or just a big snake in the same way there are small ones.

Measuring them in length though doesn't really give an accurate measure of their mass, my 2 year old corn is 395 grams and approximately 4 foot, I say approximately, its so difficult to measure them its only ever going to be approximate but weight is more accurate.

The best way I have found to measure them is using serp widgets snake measurer, you take a photo from above with the snake next to a ruler, you then use the image to calculate the length, its not 100% as its only ever as good as the persons steady hand that's using it. http://serpwidgets.com/main/measure

hi my male is 127cm and my female 111cm just over three yrs, (i think) i seen a really good and accurate way for measuring there lenght, it was on the bbc news one night a while back when scientist where carrying out a survay on the adder population. They had a clear plastic pipe, i got mine at the pond section at my local diy shop. then get your measuring tape out and make the lenght on the out side of the pipe, i simple then let jock and agnes go through the pipe ( not together oviously lol) and hay presto and easy and accurate way to find out, hope thats useful :)
