Hi all,
Apollo is shedding again (right now!) he's been rubbing his nose on stuff for about an hour and he's starting to get bits off.
The problem is, this is the third shed he has had with me and it looks like it will be coming off in bits again! There is a piece of skin which has ventral scales on it but no sign of the nose or head beginning to lift yet.
What am I doing wrong?? He gets a moist hide when he's blue to try to help but I always end up getting the rest off with a warm wet flannel a day or so later because he can't do it himself!
It's weird that he chose today to shed anyway because his eyes only cleared during the night. They were blue yesterday.
I fed him today because the last two times he shed it has been four or five days after his eyes cleared that he chose to shed and he will eat even when blue. He ate the fluff (it was a smallish one), I put him back into his faun and he started rubbing his nose on things and trying to shed!
I daren't get him out and try to help because he has just eaten and I don't want a regurge. Looks like he may be on his own this time. I just hope he manages to get it all off.
Is there anything more I can do to help him shed in one go, or even in several bits but getting it all off himself?
After the drama today I don't think I will be offering food when he is in shed anymore, just in case this happens again.

| When I put moss hide in when my corn goes blue I take all other hides out so she has to use it. Not much u can do for now apart from try an make him go in the damp hide for abit. |

I put moss in both of his normal hides this time so he didn't have a choice not to use it because last time he didn't seem so keen on the moist hide. I don't think it has helped much though :(
He won't settle anywhere at the moment, he's busy slithering about his faun rubbing his nose on things. I have misted it a bit but I don't know what else I can really do for him.
Is it something I am doing wrong which is making him shed in bits? I've done tons of research and as far as I can tell I'm doing everything right. Or do some snakes just always do that?
I wonder if it has anything to do with poor nutrition as a youngster? Eeeee, I hope my new hatchlings won't have this problem. |

| If he's eat in an pooing fine has good temps etc then not much more you can do, its just one of them things. My corn always when bad without a hide. Moss in warm hide won't do much as it will dry out quick. Hench why I take money out an just make cool end damp hide.. leave him to it for abit an see how he gets on. |

| Thanks :) He seems to have settled in the cool hide now so we'll see what happens. Maybe he'll finish the shed when I'm asleep tonight and this was just a practice run. |

The thing with the fauns is that they are heavily ventilated, so don't hold humidity that well. My anery almost always had problems shedding when she was in a faun, despite adding a humid hide for her. In the end, I resorted to heavily misting her faun twice a day when her eyes cleared until she shed. This helped with the shedding. Now she is in a viv, she sheds a lot better.
The other 2 corns I had in fauns at the same time never had problems!
You're not doing anything wrong, it's just one of those things. |

Thanks Dancross0, it's nice to get a bit of reassurance. I always worry I'm doing something wrong even though I've done loads of research and I'm following what it says. I want do the best for him 
Other than shedding issues he is healthy. He's eating (never refuses a feed), pooing, temps are okay (~28 in warm end, room temp cool end). I'll just make sure I help him get all the unshed skin off when he's done his bit so that it doesn't cause any problems for him.
