Turn your stat down to about 26 deg and then monitor the temp and turn up gradually until you are getting about 28 deg on your thermometer.

Not sure how Chris does his but I have a monkfield which I have setup the same as yours Georgina and for my plastic faun and RUB I have the mat underneath with the stat probe ontop of the mat and under the faun with the thermometer probe in the faun touching the floor.

Stat probe on outside of rub stuck on mat. Tends to hold more stable temp as stat is reacting to the mat temp. Also it means stat probe can't be dislodgged by the snake also makes it easier come cleaning time as the stat probe isn't being moved.

Thermometer probe is glued down inside rub. Just means come cleaning time or anything I can just pick up the rub an go no need to worry about probes an wires going in rub. Then when done can just put rub back on mat an not have to worry about checking temps as nothing will of moved
