i know this is not a reptile topic

but

my little cat has went missing we think she fell out the kitchen window during the night

any other ideas on how to get her to come home

ive been out shouting for her
we have left the back close door open as we are in a flat
ive put the blanket she sleeps on , on the washing line for the wind to carry her and my other pets scents on the wind to see if that works i think its abit crazy to be honest but i'll try anything

i really hope she comes back soon shes a house cat and never goes out

any replies would be great thanks

hello, sorry your kitty has gone missing , I know how upsetting it can be. Have you posted on Face book? If you know a lot of people in the local area, its a really good way of getting the message out and somebody may have seen her. Post pics etc and also- if your local newspaper has a fb page, post on there too. hope you have some luck.x

Posting on facebook is a great idea, not just on your wall but look for pet groups in your area too. Keep calling her and have her food nearby. It may take a little while for her to follow your voice if she is disorientated or being stubborn. I know I can be calling my cat in for quite a while at night and she goes outside often. Contact your local vets and rescue centres too in case she gets handed in or is injured. It is probably a worse case scenario but it might be worthwhile contacting the council as well as they don't routinely scan animals that are killed on the roads.

Good luck in finding her, whenever we want our cats to come inside we take a metal tin and put a few cat biscuits inside, then rattle it loudly while calling their name. Might work? Also, I'm not sure if you could, but I have a terrier that when I say 'where's the *****cat?' to, she'll go find one. Gotta grab her before she actually chases it, I know its a wild shot but I can't imagine how upset you must be

when my cat went missing (also more of a house cat) i used to go round searching for her, calling her, i also asked a fair few people, fb, cats protection, and posters, everything i could think of.. even her daughter went looking for her.
But my cat isnt exactly a normal colour so easily reconsisable although it did annoy me when she was found that a family apparntly had her for a few days (with kids and she is fairly timid with loud noises), she said she saw the posters and apparntly the kids were gutted they had to give her back!!-pfft, but i do hope she comes back soon, dont give up on her, she will be fine there hardy animals :)

try looking in dark places around the area where she would usually hang out, if they get a shock or are injured they often go some where dark and familier to hide. hope you find her

ive spoke to the neighbours and they are being kind enough to look out for her
ive also spoke to people that live abit further away from me to keep an eye out for her i hope she hasnt went far
i'll give it one more day and contact all the local pet services and the local paper
her picture has been shared by friends on fb
and apparently someone has seen a black cat not too far from here but their are alot of black cats around so i might not have been her
ive heard stories of cats going missing for weeks and coming back so im not going to give up hope

Hi, when my cat went missing I found shaking biscuits helped, if it's a house cat the chances are it won't have gone far. I really hope you find her soon, I know how upsetting it is, and although she is a house cat, cats are known to leave homes and find somewhere else. (several of mine have done this.) I don't know if this will help you in anyway but good luck in finding her

When our cat went missing we found him across the road in the back of someone's garage with some other cats. He is a house cat, so he hadn't gone too far and had obviously found the garage a good, dark, dry place to hide.

Cats are excellent hunters, so she should be ok out there for now - also, cats have a habit of being fed by other cat owners, either by stealing their cat's food or being half adopted by that family. (My Dad does it, he had a 'garden' cat which showed up one day and was clearly abandoned or mistreated and he let it sleep in the greenhouse - with the tumble drier for warmth - and left food out for it, eventually he contacted the RSPCA when it was clear it didn't go to another home)
