Hi im in need of some advice,
my corn snake laid about 16 eggs and we put them in a home made incubator using a heat mat, mat sat, and poly box, they were put on vermisite i think that's how it is spelt and the temp inside box is 28.4 and the humidity now is 88% before we opened box, we have no vent holes and are ensuring it keeps it temp and humidity, the problem is that for 4 days the humidity was about 76% but the temp was 27.6 constant, now i put in a temp and humidity probe two days ago to check which is when we found out it was not high on humidity so i added more warm water and took out some eggs which looked bad but there is still some eggs which are still white but look like there is bad ones under them but they are all in a clump so need advice on weather or not to remove the bad eggs from clump or leave them. also i have a picture but don't know how to post. please can someone help.

ok here is the pic of my eggs please note the 6 eggs to the top and the one on the bottom right which are all brown have been removed as they were all hard, they did start out white but turned this way after a week. |

| you need to try and re-hydrate the eggs. 1st cover the eggs with a few sheets of kitchen towel then spray with water until the kitchen towel is quite wet. you need to use water that's the same temperature that you're incubating your eggs at. leave the kitchen towel on the eggs for 24 hours then check to see if they have filled out at all. some people use sphagnum moss for this, but kitchen towel always works for me. |

| if the eggs do fill back out take the kitchen towel off and i would put some moist sphagnum moss on top of the eggs for the rest of the incubation. |

ok cool i will do that now and see if it makes it better, i have a small bowl of water in with the eggs and at this moment the temp is 28.5 and 85% humidify but the lid was of about two hours ago as i took out the bad eggs, there are some eggs which are brown below the good ones but im unsure to what to do with them as i dont want the good ones to go bad?.
what can u advise? |

| won't do any harm leaving it in there, just make sure the kitchen towel is not touching it so it doesn't soak it all up. let me know tomorrow if the eggs fill out |

ok here are the new pictures of the eggs after they have been under a couple of sheets of moist paper towel now as you can see from the first pic it looks like we may have lost more as they look bad please can anyone help as they dont look good and the box smells bad too and the third pic was the temp and humidity before i opened the box. |

| to be honest it was probably to late for the others but if any are filling back out at least it means there alive. your humidity looks fine, the eggs must have dehydrated before they we're put in the incubator. you can try putting a layer of sphagnum moss over the eggs as it will help any that are alive fill out. it also has anti bacterial properties as well which will help with any mould |
