Hey all

Been a while and I've not been very active due to health and circumstances so soz for disappearing off the radar! I gave up work at Christmas due to health problems and to try and get a better quality of life.

Well, on Friday, after much discussion with Hubby, I picked up our new baby, a rescue retired greyhound who was going to be PTS at one of the pounds up Sheffield way . Her name is Becki and she is 3yrs 3months old and is an absolute sweetheart. She's so peaceful and loving and I think she's really going to be a great companion whilst Hubby is out working; she'll also help me get into a routine and more importantly, help improve my fitness and exercise levels which, in turn, will improve my medical condition and health (or that's the plan anyway).

I have attached a link to her photo album below so you can all coo over her cuteness lol . I would have added the pics in the post, but for some reason Photobucket didn't want to upload them?

Awww shes beautifull congrats my mums got a rescued racing greyhound too shes all legs bless her shes such a character it makes my blood boil that a lotta the people race em then retire them then dump or rehome them as far as im concerned they owe a duty of care to that animal especially considering theyve profited from it!! not saying they should be forced to keep them but i do think they should at least be responsible for ensuring they find a good forever home after retirement

She is absolutely lovely. Well done for rescuing her from that awful fate. As a Support Dogs foster carer I am always moved by how much of a difference having a dog can improve someones life. I hope you have great fun with your new friend

Awww, thank you for all your kind words and Becki says 'Woof' too

She's a real character and it's so funny to watch her have a mad 20 seconds running around the garden at a crazy speed and then coming up to me panting and worn out lol. She loves her squeaky toys too and the ball we got her; the toys are unstuffed so that when she rips them to pieces, I don't get mess all over the floor! She apparently finds them quite life like, judging by the way she's trying to kill the chipmunk and bunny toys whenever she plays

Thanks so much Bunny ; if getting me up at 6.45am because she's already peed and pood in the lounge is improving my health then I'll be cured in no time lol, the little rotter

Bless her, she did have her vaccination, wormer and flea treatment yesterday so I can't really moan. She didn't like getting in the car, I had to lift her in (she weighs over 25kg and I'm only 5' 4"!) and then she wasn't too happy about having her manicure either, I mean how ungrateful, us woman pay a fortune for a manicure at the beauty parlour lmao; so all in all it was a stressful day for the lil lady

Awww bless her, she was put through the mill yesterday. She could also probably be used to kennels so may take her a little while to get the toileting sorted out. I'm sure she will settle beautifully in no time though

You're right kd, she's been used to just going out to her run and doing her business whenever she wanted to so it must be hard for her to get used to being let out to go; she can't do that herself during the night! To be fair to her though, she'd been clean the previous 3 nights (including her first night with us) so perhaps it was just all a little too much for her yesterday
