so i've been told they need heat to digest their food, but why don't mine go on the warm side of the tank, after being fed? he stays in the hides on the cool side....

maybe he just prefers the hide :P wouldnt worry though, just give him an extra day or two

Are you using a thermostat? Snakes move to the cool end to regulate their temperature it could be that your hot end is to hot.
