do i place the thermometer and thermostat probe's directly on the glass, or do i place it on the substrate?

directly on the mat. if using a faun the bottom of the faun under the substrate

i put it wedged into the substrate over the mat as generally thats where the snakes will be

it goes directly on the mat because snakes can easily burrow down into the substrate and touch the mat directly

Both my thermostat and Temp probes are stuck to the glass bottom of my Terrarium directly above where the heat mat is stuck to the under side, with substrate lightly spread over them.

This all depends on where the mat is I assume its under the glass tank. U want probes on the glass directly over the mat pinned down with something heavy. If the thermometer probe has a suck cup either take it off or make sure its far enough back that the probe is able to lay flat on the glass.
