my thermostat and other bits i have ordered offline from surrey have arrived today! was wondering if anyone could help me though? i have plugged the stat into the mains to see if it has worked and the powerlight has come one, i then plugged the heatmatt in and the green light hasnt lit up but if i turn it all off at the mains and then back on again the green light flicks up and goes off again so i was wondering if the stat is faulty? any advice!

What's the dial set to and where is the probe.

The dial is usually set very low and needs to be turned up to detect the heat mat.
