i am currently having an issue with a compact canopy

yesterday it blew the bulb and stopped working with any bulb. i took it back and they replaced it.

today, it has done the same thing.

i have been using a 15w day glo and a 15w night glo.

i also have 25w bulbs which i was sold with the canopy.

am i right in thinking that these bulbsa are ok to use with the canopy?!?!

can't say 100% without looking at it. those types of lamps need a ballast/starter or electronic ballast to work. your canopy probably has one built in. but it will be a 25watt ballast if it came with a 25w lamp,so the start up current is to much for your 15w lamps, making them blow. That would be my best guess.

Bit confusing as all instructions say u can use incandescent an on there website the day go is listed as a incandescent, it even links that bulb up to the canopy page as being suitable. http://www.exo-terra.com/en/products/compact_top.php that's canopy page on exo terra site. Clearly says daytime heat lamp with a link to neodymium day bulbs can be used......

Yeah, but it says bulb codes (PT2226 / PT2227 / PT2228) only and the day glo code it pt2100.

That is just a referance for the compact fluorescent.

The site says..

A combination of different Exo Terra Repti Glo compact fluorescent bulbs can be used (PT2226 / PT2227 / PT2228) to create the ideal ultraviolet/visual light ratio or a combination with an incandescent light source such as the Daytime Heat Lamp to increase the ambient air-temperature..

It clearly says there that a combination of fluorescent for u/v an light can be combined with incandescent light such as daytime heat lamp for heat can be used. The words day time heat lamp are a press able tab linking to this

Well I've just looked into what's special about these neodymium bulbs. An there nothing more than a glorifyed standard incandescent bulb the only differance is the gas used inside the glass bulb that stops the element burning out is differant. They can be fitted in replacement for any standard incandescent bulb as there is no differance what so ever in how it works.

Main thing is don't put a higher wattage bulb in than it states. They don't have to be exoterra bulbs
