Hi all my sisters corn is always laying down the cool end of her faun under her water bowl and is always really docile is this normal for a baby?
She eats fine and poos fine but someone on the TRP has said they're baby corn may have internal problems and theirs does the same, except hers doesn't eat and it just got me thinking if it's normal that she does it. |

| Then that's your reason for him not eating, being over active and being in his water bowl. Do you have a stat, ideal temps are between 27-29 30 is the max. I would turn your mat off, and start again with the temps, If he's not eating you shouldn't handle him, leave him at the correct temps for a week and try and feed him then. |

Sorry, our one does eat, she's fed every time since my sister got her 2 months ago, poos well and has even shed since being with her... But i will sort her temps out for her.
Also she lays under her water bowl and by docile i mean has never bitten, struck or even rattled her tail and most baby snakes I've met are stroppy! Lol
The one that hasn't been eating isn't ours its something i saw on TRP and just got me thinking. |

| i've got 16 hatchlings at the moment. only 2 of them have bitten and rattle their tails, the other 14 are docile. |

austin - Araluen did this for a while. Turned out we'd gotten the stats muddled up when setting up Ginn's new vivarium, the heatmat was just too hot. Now we've got it back in that sweet spot of 29degrees at hottest and Ara is much more active, hides in his hot hide or cold side...and yes, even under the water bowl sometimes still.
He never missed a meal and it was only a couple of days before we noticed the mix up (I posted on here as well and got the same advice) and now he's all back to normal.
Also...I have ONCE had Ara rattle his tail at me and that was because I was poking around his substrate and didn't realise he was there. He's never struck or tried to bite so I consider myself lucky. |

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but thought id continue this one rather than start a new thread.
I am experiencing the same thing with Willow.
She feeds fine, poops fine but over the last week or so likes to stay in her home made coconut shell cool hide, even after her last feed! She roamed around for a while, quite actively after her feed and then decided to spend 2 days in her cool hide.
When i last took her out from under it, she felt quite cold but was happy enough playing in my hands but possibly was a little lethargic to start with.
Temps, Cool 20-21.5 Warm 27.5 -29.5
She is just over 4 Months old

| they will feel cold to the touch as our bodies run at a higher temp, your temps are fine i take it your matt is stated? They will regulate their own temps, as long as long as she is eating, pooing and otherwise seems happy i wouldn't worry. |

| My late cb11 hides up in her vines alot even after feeding which are in the cool side. My late cb10 hides in his cave in the warm end, I'm guesing they Will do wats best for them. |

Thanks lupi lou, thats assured me everything is okay now and not so worried.
Yes i have a thermostat for my mat, and trying to keep records each day of temps.
Took her out again this evening, 48 hours is a long time to wait after a feed and shes happy as larry.

i have one side with temps of around 28 and mine spends most of its time on the cold side. Whenever i get him out he's always freezing.
I really wouldnt worry |

Im still quite concerned, she fed yesterday and has spent all of her time in her cool hide.
Could this be that she preferes her cool hide over her warm hide, the warm hide is a cave type hide and the cool hide is a DIY home made coconut hide that i made which is smaller than the warm hide.
Should i swap the hides around or would this just confuse her, get stressed and regurge? |
