you need to measure the mat temp, not the ambient air temp. and the analog ones are not as accurate, the temps might rocket sky high and it would take ages for the thermometer to react. plus you can see the display on the digital ones from the other side of the room.

1.0 western hognose (hero)
1.0 phantom reverse pin dal brindle crested gecko (goyle)
0.2 red dal red harly (sprite) 99% full pin Harley crested gecko (TuLong)
0.0.3 miomantis paykullii
0.0.3 Bombina orientalis (oriental fire bellied toad)
0.3 fancy mice (snap, crackle and pop)
1.0 yorkshire terrier (jasper)
2.1 cats (echo, shadow and pokey)

self adhesive strip ones are great for fish tanks, but useless for a cornsnake set up. If they are placed where you need to measure the temperature (under the substrate above the heat mat) you can't see it. The same goes for the dial ones. Its really pointless having a thermometer stuck on the wall half way up unless you have a species that needs the air heating or something that basks near the thermometer.

simple answer is that they are not as accurate at reading the temps as a digi one is....which is essential to make sure you dont burn your snake xx
