Didn't go too well it will come to my hand and have a smell of me but as soon as a touch it it panics and won't let me touch it will either slither away or go into one of his hides and I'm afraid of hurting it

Hello and welcome, you have to be brave with handling and just scoop them up gently, they calm down eventually.
I'm sure you'll get some great advice from others on here. :)

thank you everyone for the advise for handling the snake, which i got to do for the first time today :) and also with the naming of the snake which is going to be frosty (thank you percy)

Just for the record - if I'd left the hides in when we first got Corno I'm sure I'd never have been able to get her out lol! I take the hides out so there's nowhere for her to shoot to, then straight in and grab her - once in my hands she calms down within a minute!
