Crystal has taken a feed after 10 weeks and 1 day!!! Following on from sexybears suggestion of scenting with a chick thigh. She grabbed the pinky from the forceps - no messing
I hadn't been able to get hold of a chick thigh yet, but we had chicken for tea, so i took the raw skin off the chicken and wrapped the pinky in the chicken skin to defrost and hey presto she's eaten. I've wrapped a couple more pinkys in chicken skin and put them in the freezer for when the next feed would be due - but then how do I wean her off the scented prey, am i best waiting until she's taken a couple more feeds.
I'm a very happy snake mummy tonight

Oh thats fantastic news! You must be absolutely over the moon. I've never done the whole scenting thing, but I'd be inclined to give her a couple more feeds this way to get her back into the whole feeding routine again. I'm sure if sexybear or someone else with experience of this reads your post you'll get the advice you need. |

Nothing like that feeling when they finally eat after a long fast. My lavender has just had his second consecutive feed since October. I tried him with a rat pup instead of a mouse and he seems to like them. I never thought of scenting with chicken skin but I might try that with my hoggie |

Pleased he's taking the rat pups for you 'kd', i didn't have that option with crystal she's too small for the rat pups, it was just an experiment with the chicken skin, i thought it must be similar scent to a chick thigh, they're both chicken after all, it may have been coincidence, but she fed thats all that matters |

well done!!! and really pleased for you
though I would have to do the chick thigh method as I love cripsy chicken skin on my roast myself lol, be an interesting fight between me and snakey lol
as for weaning, perhas feed her a couple more times so in routine
and then instead of wrapping pinky in chicken skin, leave it next to it, and then less of it and so forth so you letting the scent effectively die down |
