Hello.
Brand new to this forum and brand new to cornsnakes in general.
Brought my 1YO cornsnake 4 days ago but for the first two days he stayed buried in the Aspen and literally didn't move. When I changed his water I dug him out (as I was worried) and handled him for a bit which he was fine with. As soon as I returned him back to the viv he buried himself back in again and has stayed like that ever since.
Has anyone else gone through this and if so does the snake snap out of it at some point and become more active? |

To be honest I was reluctant to handle him, as my supplier had recommended that I leave him for a week as you just have, but he literally hadn't moved an inch in 48 hours and I was worried he was dead. Now I know this is normal I'll leave him completely alone except to change his water.
Also how do I add a picture from my laptop?

Haha yeah snakes can be very inactive, I've a Royal Python (far worse for inactivity than a corn) and I've prodded him a few times thinking he had popped his clogs, he soon hissed to remind me he was alive.
I find all my snakes are inactive most of the time, the corn been the only one to roam about on an evening for an hour if I'm lucky. Your snake may just be a bit scared in its new enclosure, with all new smells, and sounds/vibrations around, this is why we give them a week to settle in so they get used to just been there before we start.
(check the pictures section, the instructions are stickied on the top, you cant miss it). |

| Have you got hides? They maybe too big, hence the burrowing sometimes. Other times they just like burrowing lol. Snakes aren't really known for there activeness, one of mine will not move from one of her hides unless I take her out every week it seems ;) |

| I changed his water again this morning and he was still burrowed in the same place. I've just looked in now however and he is sticking his head out which he wasn't doing before. Hopefully he'll roam around on his own accord. Also, just saw him yawn and can now understand how he fits those mice in!!! |
