Might be a bit of a silly question but I wanted to take a few good photos of my king snake, and was wondering will the flash be bad for the snake ?

Never had a problem with mine even when shooting in macro.

I use (as recommend by others) rizla papers of the flash just for that extra protection. Seems to work well.

yup, rizlas or a bit of masking tape over the flash - it also prevents the flash from reflecting too much off the snake too :)
