Hi guys

Im having a bit of trouble atm Artemis hasnt eaten since the 25th november i weighed her today shes only 108 grams and shes a lil over 3ft anxietys really starting to kick in and im worried im doing something wrong i take all the snakes out of their vivs to feed usually never have a problem the last few times though Srtemis has shown little or no interest in food and Eddie ive had to resort to putting into a small tub with the food to get him to eat which ive never had to do before once hes out he just wants to explore and zoom around
Both the hatchlings are happily feeding ok and not a problem its just the yearlings temps at warm end are around 28-29 and cool end is around 22 ive got myself all stressed out i know its only a little over a week since artemis ate but i just dont understand both are suddenly being problematic today i tried braining the mouse for aretmis and she still wasnt interested wondering if i should put her back on small mice and try those next feed day ?

any help or advice would really be gratefully recieved right now thanks

Keep an eye on the weight. Thats the main thing when feedin is an issue. Is he feeding fine in the small rubs?

Keep an eye on her weight. If she isnt feeding just now then she's maybe just not wanting to take the feed. Remeber snakes can go a fair while without feeding. Keep a record of her weight if this is to continue.

I have one snake who hasnt eaten since september. Hes lost a wee bit of weight but nothing thats gonna affect im in any way. I have tried everything possible to entice him to eat, but hes having none of it. He will eat when hes ready to eat.

You can try the next size down next week if you want.

Naa it isnt silly. I hae been worried in the past over non feeders etc. Over time you will be able to chill out about things like this. She may well continue to refuse for a while, or she may well start taking for you again. Just have to wait and see.

Also, eddie's behaviour changing, I wouldnt worry about either. My eldest corn Griffin, he used to stike feed every time. Now you have to leave it overnight in his viv or he wont eat it. This only started about 3/4 weeks ago. At least they are feeding though

Believe me I know all too well about anxiety probs lol. Theres nothing that you have done. Sometimes snakes are just fussy b***ers! Any probs you have at all, no matter how silly you feel they are, just ask. Its what we are all here for.

It can be quite worrying when they suddenly change their feeding habits but try not to worry too much. One of mine is a very sporadic feeder. I actually managed to get him to eat 3 weeks in a row but then decided not to eat for the next 3 weeks. I am just about to go and see if he has eaten his mouse this week. It looks like he has but iv been fooled before when he has just hidden it under the paper towel.
I would suggest that if now they are on bigger mice then you don't really want to be feeding any more frequent than every 7 days. As they get older and onto bigger mice then you space out the gap between feeds. It may be that artemis just isnt hungry. How often are you attempting to feed her? Is it possible she is due for a shed?

Thanks guys well once they moved up a food size i figured every 5 days was too frequent the hatchlings still eat every 5 days though but they are only 4-5 months old i tried Artemis 5 days ago when i fed the hatchies and then again today when i fed the hatchies again
Shes always been quite happy to eat before she seems quite contented in her viv so i dont think shes stressed (but how do you tell?)

The joy of snakes eh! I know its hard but try not to worry,my little 8 gram housie went of his food for over a month. He's started feeding again now as if nowt happened! In all that time he's stayed active and seems none the worse for wear.
Alaska hasn't fed for me since getting her just over 3 weeks ago (little madam!),I'm not getting too stressed though as I know she was feeding well previously. Determined to crack her before I crack lol!

try not to stress too much , as people have said keep an eye on her weight and keep records . it could well be down to the time of year , theres a lot of hormonal snakes around who seem to have naughty things on the brain!
