Hi!
I am a noob to the forum so say hello to Naboo!
He is a 12 week old corn, I was told he was male and by the tail and counting the scales I think this is right. Is he a carolina or normal style?
Apologies for the poor quality pics my phone isn't great and the camera is playing up.
His colours are much brighter near his head & neck his yellows and oranges are coming through. Also his checker board is getting a brighter white colour underneath his neck.
First pic is when I got him at under 3 weeks old, tiny in my girlfriends hand!
This pic is more recent he's 17 inches now and is puttin g more weight on now.
Can't wait for his colours to fully develop we looked after a yearling from the same parents so we know we have a beauty on the way!

Thanks...Yeah big boosh fan! It was a toss up between Naboo or Bollo!
The pictures don't really do him justice the colours are brighter, this one is better you can see the yellows coming through.
He was really small everyone took the mick when i first got him calling him a stripey worm not a snake! |

Naboo is also a Star Wars reference...
You counted the scales... I've not tried that yet. |

In a corn book I bought it said that if you count the pairs of scales on the tail if it is over 140 then the snake is most probably a male under 120 it will be female. Not sure how accurate this is but it was in the Kathy Love book the form snake manual. |

Pairs of scales? As in the double ones on the under side of the snake? |

Just counted ours, off it's first shed. Count 67pairs so 134. Will count again on its next shed to double check. |

Well i rememebered i had a photo our corns undersider so i deceided to do some more counting. Using the method i found here (link below). According to this she is a she. Its not 100% obviously, but its good enough for me. Also confirms what we thought (due to her tail shape too). So we are proud to now give her her proper name Lilith
EDIT: Help if i posted the link... http://thecornsnake.com/breeding-corn-snake |

Nice snake don't go scale counting or looking at the tail though it's in-accurate at defining sex. |
