So my little Essfer just had his 3rd shed overnight, and yesterday evening he took down his first fluffy. I know I ought to help ease the retained shed off with a damp towel but should I wait 48 hours to allow him to digest before I do that? Or would leaving it on that long put him at risk?

Thanks

Hiya, i'd leave him to digest and try to get the shed off himself. put in a damp hide, a plastic takeaway tub with a hole in one end will do fine. either moss, damp kitchen roll or a wrung out bit of towel (personal preference as can rub themselves over it) and leave them to it for a while before intervening. i've found that to work best of all when casta had a bad shd with retained skin on her chin for a week. came straight off.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease Casta. I got him out a couple days later and eased the last of his shed off.

Try to put a log/stick in and the snake will rub it and get the remains of it's shed off.
