Not until they are bigger. But yes they will breed like viagra fed rabbits. I will either separate them when it gets to that stage or just freeze the eggs, I also have plans for the eggs to go to the fish but still looking into the suitability of it. |

Heh,heh they look so sweet together. I think my last 2 have had an argument, they are as far away from each other as possible at the mo! Chuffed you're pleased with them,I can tell they are going to be spoilt Which ones which then, can you tell them apart?
Ps. Its not unheard of for snails to repoduce if on their own on occassion! |

Really I didnt know that snails can 'you know' themselves.
One is slightly larger but I don't think I will tell them apart until they are bigger.
I'm so pleased with them, I'm amazed how much they eat, that leaf is at least 60% gone within 24 hours, I was wondering did about 10 more sneak in over night. |

If a snail lives on its own all its life then it will not reproduce. It has to have lived with another snail in order to produce fertile eggs. If a snail is seperated from a snail and placed on its own then it can still produce fertile eggs for quite sometime.
@ Lotabob, Thats a great looking set up for your snails. You just wait though until they are 300g plus, they demolish everything they come into contact with lol. |

I should have phrased it better. Self fertilisation has been recorded in other species of snail, and it is believed to have occured in a member of the Achatina species:

Yep,they eat loads. You certainly wouldn't want a herd of them attacking your vegetable patch lol!

Could you not eat them?
As a note, self fertilization has also occurred with lizards and apparently snakes. *shrug* |
