Hi ev1, Just wanted to say hello as i am new to the site and a first time corn snake owner. My corn is 18 months old and i have had her for just 3 wks. Have been told she is Hypo? and Possibly female?? Her name is Tallula Belle and i love her to bits already She is a little skitty when you try to get her out of the viv but once out she soon calms down,i don't think she had been handled much in her previous home so just trying to handle her for 5/10 mins everyday till she gets used to me and me to her. Can't believe how hooked i am already, such fascinating creatures Please feel free to comment with help and advice for the newbie.
Tallula Belle hope you love her as much as me

Hello and welcome.
All I could suggest at the moment is to see about getting some more decor (viv packing) in the viv, as it currently looks very exposed and open for it.
I dunno what hides etc you have in there, but a couple nice climby things, loo roll tubes, egg boxes will all give the snake something to explore around and hide in/on/under and probably help to make it a bit calmer as well.

Thanks ev1 for the welcome. I have in the viv at the moment 2 earthenware bowls, 1 for water the other she uses for an hide, 3 logs and couple of plastice plants. I did move things around to take pics of her. At the end of the month (payday) i was going to get her some vines to climb on and a skull also maybe something to go on the back wall as its very plain. What do u all think? ok or too much???

hi there

you don't have to spend money to kit out their vivs, harry loves his empty toblerone tube, he's also enjoyed the cardboard drinks holders you get given through drive thrus, i just made the holes bigger for him, empty cereal boxes anything really, just a bit of imagination and you'll probably find snakey will enjoy them more than shop bought stuff, plus nice and easy for when he poops on them, just chuck it out and pop a new one in.

Hi and welcome. She's lovely.
As said, you don't have to spend loads on hides as they can be made from things around the home. Although its so nice treating them to something.
If you do go for a skull, just make sure the eye sockets are big enough for her to get through as they aren't the brightest of animals and sometimes try to squeeze through gaps far too small and get stuck!

Hi and welcome. What a gorgeous name for a gorgeous snake!!

As has already been said. You don't have to pay alot to kit a viv out. I have just put some more cardboard boxes into my vivs. One of mine loves his cardboard box so much he always uses it even though he is really a bit big for it. You could also use upside down plant pots, bowls, rabbit and hamster accessories are good too and are cheaper than reptile ones. For plant decor, go to dunelm mill, their ivy is fantastic and much much cheaper than the stuff designed for reptiles. You can also get cheap fake plants from discount shops like Home Bargains. Look in there too for anything that can be used. Sometimes they have ornaments that are crying out to have a snake crawl over them.

Also, how are you heating, regulating the heat and monitoring it?
