Hiya, I'm new to corn snakes but have wanted one for ages. just wanted to say hi and will certainly be asking for help. Casta is around 8 weeks i think? a good eater and i think she's in the shedding process. her eyes went from a bright red to a light pink and her skin became duller and feels rougher. her eyes cleared up a couple of days ago, i'm assuming i should be expecting a new shiny snake soon? trust me to pick a snow as a first
Thanks |

Welcome aboard.
It can take anywher between 1 day and 1 week for it to shed its skin. Some on here have said its been 2-3weeks after clearing over. It varies from snake to snake. There is a link below about the tell tale signs of Snow/lighter colour corns shedding process as like you say its harder to tell if its in shed or not. Hope this helps

Thanks very much shes only young but has grown a lot in the 2 weeks i've had her. i've noticed some areas on her have been quite rough like the scales are lifting. my mind is at rest now i was getting worried until i continued reading up. i'll get some pic up once she's he new shiny self. fed her yesterday no problems so don't want to upset her digestion.

Snows are one of the best corns you can get. Aside from wibblies, but they're totally different. |

she did shed, not overly well but have only had her just over a week when she did so. i'm guessing that and the wrong humidity caused her to come a bit patchy. got that sorted with a little soak and a rub through a damp towel. eye caps came off straight away and then the rest of the skin. now have a humidity detector on order so it goes better next time. in the mean time she has a new toy in the form of a grass hamster ball. lovin it so far
This forums really takin away the stress and helpin out. cheers guys!!! |
