Hi guys!
So, Star's been acting kinda crazy lately - everytime I reach into the viv to take her out she shoots off, and wriggles and even jumps out the cage. This happens all the time now, when before it was just fine.

I have recently changed her substrate - could this be the problem? It's not cedar or redwood.
She isn't in blue or anything, and I'm starting to worry because it hasn't stopped after about two weeks.
I don't know if this is normal behaviour, but she's normally so calm and placid.
Help would be appreciated! Thanks

One of mine was always placid and then all of a sudden she changed. Tough to know though with out knowing the setup and how often she is handled.

Perhaps (just an opinion) she may not be getting handled enough and is skittish because of that. Or it might be that she is still young. How old is she? If she is still young then it seems pretty normal for her to be a bit flighty.

I've had her for about 3 months, and she's about 1 1/2 years old. The temps are about 23 in the cool end and 30 in the warm end, and I handle her about every other day for about twenty mins.

could try putting a sock/cloth that youve had in your pocket for a few hours in her viv so she gets your scent. i know this works when getting a new snake might be worth a try. does she have a hide in both ends?

Just sounds like a snake to me. I find with spot if I pick him up when he isn't normally active (rarely done but sometimes required) he is usually quite still but if i go in for him and its 'his' time of the day he will be less cooperative. I have almost always opened the viv door and sat and seen if Spot wants to come out, most of the time he does and once he is a good way out I pick him up, if I pick him up in the viv he usually tail grabs half the foliage on the way out and makes a mess.
