hi, my snakes are 10wks old now and sydney shed his skin yesterday for the first time with me :) woody is currently 'in blue' but looks like he will shed any day now.

I have a query about their feed? sydney has just eaten 2 pinkies, these have left a decent 'bulge' around his middle but he seems like he is looking for more. pacing the rub and staring at me
should i be giving him 3? or moving up to a bigger mouse? what is the next size?

woody has eaten 2 also even though he is 'in blue' is this ok?? unlike sydney he has now gone to sleep.

louise x

Sounds like he maybe ready for the next size up. Buy a couple of Fuzzies and see if he takes to 1, in 7 days of course.

Eating in blue as far as i am aware is fine. Some snakes do it some dont. Mine didnt.

At 10 weeks a single pinkie is enough every 6 to 7 days, my corns are greedy and would eat more if offered but it wouldn't take long to start getting fat. I have to disagree with Simmy 82, I think a fuzzy at such a young age is just too much, but that is just my opinion.

You will soon learn snakes are opportunistic feeders, they will eat when the opportunity arises, I would have thought 2 pinkies at 10 weeks is a bit much, only feed 2 when 1 doesn't leave a bump. They dont stop eating because they are full they will eat anything you put in front of them, its your job to make sure they only eat what they need as they will make themselves ill if you just beat food into them because they look hungry (they always look hungry). Snakes also dont have the same digestive system we do, we get hungry because our bodies need a lot of energy, snakes dont and can/do shut down their digestive system when they are not digesting, so dont worry about your snake been hungry and associating it with how you feel on a Sunday waiting for the roast to cook, they dont get that feeling.
