Hi all

so I went and picked up the Vivexotic VX36 flat pack viv, unpacked it all and set about building it. Job done, no!. Now this might just be me being thick but why is the back panel 25mm too short top to bottom. The aperture measures 49.5 cm but the panel measure 47 cm so what goes in the 25mm gap, have they missed something out of the pack that fits in there or have they put the wrong panel in the kit.

Jane.

Have you put the sides on the right way?
I dunno if putting the sides on the inside or outside make a difference.

not sure with that one.... i know some with some of the home made ones that my friends make leave a gap at the top around the same size and put a fine mesh to compensate for the absent vents but you would think that vivexotic would have already put the circular vents in there would be no need for the gap.... i'd prob think it was the wrong back panel

personally id consider it as like a silver lining.... i dont like the soft backs to those vivs and would replace with some solid wood like 8-12mm mdf

Hi Kehhlyr they are on the inside it's the only way they will fit with the fittings supplied.

Hi mkmattyk, it's not the hardboard back it's the same thickness MDF as the rest of it so a solid back just to bloomin short. I've not had a vivexotic before so I don't know if they have a grill or something in that gap.

I have a viv exotic that I bought just 3 months ago. It does not have any grid or anything at the back of it. Just vents that push in the precut holes. Sounds like it could be faulty :(

Thanks Red123 I think you could be right.

Hi a33272, it has got those 4 tablet shaped vents and 2 half circles for the cables.

Well I just hope the place I bought it from sorts it out tomorrow so that Pody can still come home on Thursday else I shall be one very unhappy bunny.

Hi a33272 if the side panels were the wrong way round wouldn't the front be to big, I've just measured the front aperture and it measures 49.5 cm bang on and the doors, runners and rails measure 49.5 so the back panel is definitely too short. What a pain in the backside, well I shall just have to take it all to bits and he can swap it for another one tomorrow but he can open it before I leave and check that the back is the correct size.

Hi Sta~ple, I've spoken to Hagen the manufacturers this morning and they've said that the wrong back panel has been put in I think he said the 47cm panel is off the AX36 and I've to take the whole pack back to Scales and Tails for a replacement so dismantling the bloomin thing was not high on my list of to do's still never mind at least I can build another one tonight and Pody will still be here for the weekend.

Hi kdlang yep my patience was wearing very thin last night but never mind I am picking up a replacement this dinnertime so by bedtime tonight it should be up and running and just to be on the safe side this time and for chance the whole delivery has got the wrong back panels one of the guys here is cutting and bending a piece of clear acrylic to size that I shall be able to hot melt into position so Pody shall have a little viewing window instead.
