Hi all, Its pablos first feed with us tonight, breeder says he is a good eater but he is our first snake so i was wondering how you suggest we feed him? just dangle the thawed out pinky in front of him or leave it in his viv for him to eat in his own time? |

How long have you had the snake? A week?
If so i fed mine in a separate smaller tub. First feed i just put it in the RUB and left the snake to it, watching of course. Once it found the pinkie it was fine. Last few times i have fed her i have dangled it at her in the RUB and she has struck at it. Maybe you should just leave it in the RUB and see how it goes. It should be fine.
I got my RUB from ASDA once of those sealable lunch boxes biggest one they did (about £2), drilled some air holes in to i could close the lid whilst i cleaned the faun etc whilst she is eating.
Hope this helps! |

I think this first feed we are going to do in the viv (he's still very skittish) but we have a seperate tub for him when we get a little more comfortable with him. |

Ok then best to leave it on a piece of kitchen roll (if you use aspen) so that its cant potentially swallow any aspen. Leave it on their so that it can find and feed it for itself.
Mine was pretty skittish the first few handling sessions, but usually calmed down after a few minutes and happily explored my hands and arms. Just build your confidence with handling slowly. |

I have four and have fed all of them their first feeds in the viv, I think it just settles them quicker. |

I take mine out and feed them in a tub or a new kitchen bowl i brought just for them, and i use a pair ov tongs to dangle in front of them cos i like it when they strike and constrict, but what ever way you decide to do it hope it goes well for you good luck |

Oh good luck! I've always fed mine in seperate tubs straight from the start and just placed them in with their pinkies. Once I know they are more settled and are feeding well I've dangled the mouse for them. You'll find everyone has their own way of doing things,as does each snake. |

It may help to cover his viv up as he may be a little shy of being watched. |

Bulge looks perfect. He is a cutie. I'm glad he took it for you. Sometimes it takes them a little while to make sure that it's safe to eat as that is when they are most vulnerable. |
