We were given 2 corn snakes this weekend (free) 1 female snow and 1 male carolina, they were housed together in a 3ft viv and the guy who had them said they were about 2 years old.

We have got them home and seperated them, weighed and measured them and put them in thier own homes.

Does this sound right for 2 years old:
the female snow is 105 cm (3ft 5 inches) and 255g
the male carolina is 119cm (3ft 11 inches)and 471g

is that right for the age given or are they too big or small? overweight or underweight?

After all I have read about co-habiting, was I right to seperate them, or as they have been together for years, should I have kept them together? I didn't think snakes were particularily social with eachother?

Thanks

You were definitely right to spilt them up. The female has not reached the correct weight for breeding so any eggs could be bad news for her. It's hard to tell if the weights are right for their size. If you post some pics when they have settled in it may be easier for us to tell

Editted to add - Just looked at your pics and they don't look too bad at all. Your male is stunning. It's a bit hard to tell with the pics of the female but she doesnt look too bad

they're at an age and size they could potentially breed so best off housing them seperately ideally
they don't look excessively under- or over-weight on the pics you've posted on your other threads, though i'd feed the male fortnightly to try to stop him piling much more weight on, and feed her weekly to maybe build her up a little bit
i'd also hazard a guess that they're a year older than you were told, though it's very difficult to tell from pics on the internet
