Hi Everyone,
Just A quick question. I have a heat mat in our corn viv and am using a habistat to control the temperature.
I have put some newspaper over the mat for now and have been reading up on the best place to put the habistat sensor which I believe is actually on the mat itself??
What's the best wat to secure that and a digital thermometer sensor to the mat?
I've just laid the sensors between the newspaper and mat for now and was shocked when the temp read 100 degrees 
Any help is much appreciated

| I've seen some weigh theres down with the hides so that the thermometer and thermostat probe are together in the warm hide. I used the OH's hair bobble to band them together. |

I'm a newbie and haven't even got my snake yet so not sure I am qualified to comment - but I have used some aquarium sealant to stick my stat and thermometer probes down next to each other over the heat mat.

| I double band the stat probe and the thermoter one ans because of my type of thermerters I have a suction cup that I just lick and stuck and then place a few stone ontop to secure. |

Thanks for the responses everyone, hmmm not sure what approach to to take regarding securing the mat.
Don't really want to have to wait for sealant to cure due to not having anywhere else for Candy. Might use duct tape making sure there is absolutely NO exposed tape!!
My temperatures are now reading:
Cool end - 76.5
Warm end - 84.1
This is now with the stat sensor and digital sensor actually on the mat.

| Yeah, the piece of wood in there is on the mat at the moment. I don't have a hide at the warm end as she burrows in the substrate and plus space constraints :o/ |

I don't stick my mats down with anything just weigh them down with hides. I have a couple of snakies that like to go underneath their mats but as long as the probes dont move off of it then they wont get burnt.
Any tape in the snakes enclosure or anywhere where there is even the remotest chance of it coming into contact with it, is a big no-no. Even when you think it is fully stuck down there is always a risk and injuries caused by tape can be quite nasty |

Fair play, I won't use that method then.
At this moment in time, the sensors are being held in place by being weighted down with the end of the climbing log lol |

Hi everyone,
Have been thinking about how to fix my sensors more securely to the heat mat and am wondering about this
It's a coated metal bendable hook with a strong double sided sticky pad backing.
It can be bent into shape to hold the sensors by bending the hook over them
I'd bend the tip right round the sensors so there's nothing to catch the snake, just wondering if the sticky pad would be ok on the mat?

| I used a hot melt gun for mine it goes off in minutes so no nasty fumes lingering about and stone cold within 30 minutes. We used those wire grips at work and to be honest the metal is far too soft and the edges are very sharp so you would only need for your litle one to push under the wires and central cut out bit would bend upwards and expose the sharp edges, also I know with ours when they were stuck on anything warm the adhesive wasn't very effective and they ended up falling off. |

So if I used a hot melt glue gun, is there a specific glue stick to use? Also, how did you apply the glue on the sensors to hold them? |
