A few pic of Ziggy finally exploring his viv

And managed to get one of Flo - usually too quick and all I get is blurry pics !

Went to the Kempton Park expo today - could have brought home so many new corns... might kick the kids out and use their bedrooms to put a few stack in :)......

Nearly got a bloodred..... and a fire... and .. well loads !!!

I love the wood in the viv. Ziggy is gorgeous and that is a very cute pic of flo.

I agree about the guard. Even if it's an energy saving bulb that doesn't get hot, snakes can still crush the bulb. Alos if that thermometer is the only one you have got then you could do with getting a digital probe as the dial ones are pretty rubbish.

Thanks all .. yes it's an energy saving bulb .. never thought of him crushing it so will get a guard - but have checked the heat and it does get quite hot after only a few mins (another reason to get a guard).
Not sure why the shop did not mention this when we got the viv.

Will be getting a digital thermometer as soon as possible (already have one for Flo)

Some of the wood was bought but some was also collected from the woods then de-barked , cooked for 3 hours and sanded down... have the advantage of living very close to acres and acres of woods.. :)

Shops are rubbish about informing people about the need for bulb guards, in pretty much the same way they don't tell people how essential thermostats are. I guess they think if they tell people exactly how much everything is going to cost then it might put them off buying.

I would love to go collecting wood for my vivs but I am really rubbish at identifying trees and I am scared in case I pick up anything that could be toxic. Maybe I should get a book and go and educate myself for an few hours. Good exuse to go playing in the woods with the dog

Mainly Oak, sycamore trees round here - I read the guide on this site and I did not know there may be toxic types - thought that cooking for 3 hours would be enough to make it safe.. now I am going to have to check if the wood that's in there is alright...

All I have found so far is not to use cedar (and some say pine)... will look into this more...
