I know each snake will be different, but Rex my sons new corn (estimated 8-12 months old) is 45 cm long and 13 grams, feeding on a pinkie a week.

How do I know when to try him on something bigger, and how do I know he is right size for weight and visa versatile?

Is there a guide any where?

Any help appreciated.

general rule is that the snake is capable of eating something thats 1.5 times the size of the snakes widest part. I would probably look to move up to fluffs or at least try 2pinkies first for a couple of feeds. In relation to size if you were to cut her in half (dont do it Lol) if she is a circle she a fatty, if she a triangle she too thin if she a loaf of bread shes about right. But remember like humans all snakes are Dif.

there is no correct weight - size ratio, bit like humans some are big some are small. It depends where you bought him and what they've been feeding him etc, some shops will only feed 1 pinky a week to keep them small so people will want to buy them.

You could see if he'll take 2 pinkies if you think he'll manage them, the food size should be no more than 1.5 x the width of the snakes widest part, so would imagine it'll be a few weeks before he's ready to move to fuzzies. Mine was 30-40g when she moved to fuzzies.

So long as he's feeding and gaining weight try not to worry too much about size and weight he's probably just a littlun
