Kai is a year old according to the records i have for him , however the record states that hes a hypo butter , and hes clearly an amel . anyways , hes a year old but doesnt seem to put any weight on . we have had him since the 23/03 and he weighed 22 grams . hes on a large pink / small fluff as thats the only thing he can take if u go by one 1.5 x the thickest bit of him . he eats steadily every 5 days , we weighed him on the 17th of this month and hes still only 24 grams . its catch 22 really as if he was on the bigger fluff he would gain weight . kodi is on large fuzzys and is packing the weight on 10 grams in a month , we have dropped her feeding back to 7 days now . should i be worried ? they both have exactly the same set ups and temps :(

I might be wrond, but can you not feed him 2 large pinkies? I read somewhere you can do that. Others with more knowledge may correct me.

My Rimmer is nearly a year old, takes 2 - 3 fluffs every 2 weeks, and only weighs 37 grams. Lister on the other hand is also nealry a year old, is fed 1 - 2 small mice every 2 weeks, and weighs 144 grams and is just over 3 foot. Some of them are big, some of them are tiny! So long as he's eating, shedding and pooping, I can't see any problem.
However, my knowledge is very limited compared to the many other experienced people on here, so I'm sure the others may be able to shed some more light :)

if he's not fed much then he won't grow much...........you'd be surprised at how much they can eat, size-wise as well as volume/weight

i'd just chuck him a fuzzy

i personally much prefer snakes that are grown on slowly and aren't overweight versus the rush to get them up to a reasonable breeding weight!

Truth there! Rimmer was boarded for a little bit, and was fed a small mouse whilst there! I was shocked he managed it, he's a quarter of Listers weight and size, but he was more than happy to take it! :O Certainly wouldn't do it myself though!

Well we once fed him two pinks , one that was more like a fluff and he regurged so we have always been more wary , and it seemed from his records he went from 1 pink to two , then up to 2 , then back to 1 so it seems that if we push him he won't manage it . He poos loads and sheds too and is fed every 5 days as I thought that was the soonest u can feed . I'm not trying to feed him up fast , just concerned he's not gaining weight , unlike kodi who's younger and 58 grams and putting weight on fast

2 pinkies is going to be a bigger meal than 1 fuzzy but a fuzzy will probably have more nutritional value, pinks are great to get small snakes started but lack the nutrients of older mice. I'd go with GP's advice and chuck him a fuzzy and then stand back and marvel and the suddent growth spurt that happens on fuzzies.

Am I rite in thinking fuzzys have the fur on them ? We call them fluffs as kodi is on them , like mini mice lol ? As I asked for fluffs and got a mixture of big fat pinks and ones with fur coming ?

They are just slightly bigger than a pinkie and are just beginning to grow hair, they feel a bit like velvet.

Thats understandable, I did the same for a while after Spot had a regurge but then just decided to slowly increase his mice to the 1.5 X mark and he coped just fine. You can only give it a go, I'm sure it will be fine but if he regurges again then you will know that he needs smaller meals more frequently rather than bigger ones.

Oh no, i am so sorry to hear that he regurged. I would give him a pink again the next time you feed in 10 days and then if he keeps that down try 2 pinks. Maybe it's the fur he is not liking at the moment. Or you could try shaving a fuzzy
