Hi. I am new to the forum. I have just recently purchased 2 corn snakes. 1 is coloured white, with blacky/brown marking called perky 2 is coloured white, with red/pink markings called pinky
Perky was hatched on the 31/05 shed on 11/06 and fed on 1 pinky on the same day fed on 16/05 on 1 pinky then i got him on 29/06 since then he has fed 2 pinkies on the 29/06 1 pinkie on the 05/07 He was born a day after pinky and is healthy. Is growing a tad faster than pinky and his appetite is very good.
Pinky was hatched on the 30/05 shed on 10/06 and fed 1 pinky on the same day 1 pinkie on the 15/06
Heres were it get a little confusing. some idiot at the pet shop forgot to write on the boxes which snakes had fed and which had refused food. So naturally i tried both when i got home and as you can see perky has no problems what so ever. But tried to feed pinky on 3 occasions with no success. tried feding in the dark. on his own, tried feeding him by dangling the pinkie in front of his nose, tried making sure the pinkie was warm enough,
Are Albino tyoe snakes harder to feed. i ask this because they are from the same batch and totally different. They are in the same tank together. the tank is 24 x 18 x 12 they have 2 hides half wood shaving. the ones you get for snakes, half gravel for a differnce in texture 2 pieces of bog wood. water dish
all these items exept for wood shavings were steralized in the oven at 150 oC for about 1 hour.
the temperature at hot end is 27 C and the cool end is 24 C
please help.

put them into their own rubs and see if that helps, they arn't the best co-habitors and if you're not 100% sure of sex (and no one can be unless its a popped/probed male, or female who's laid) you can't be sure of unwanted babies at a later age. They'll also be competeing for the best 'hotspot' for digesting their meal, as they need the hot end to do this. Don't try re-feeding too soon wait until the next feed would be due. For hatchling corns, it cheeper and for ease of looking after (as they poop so much) to keep on kitchen roll. |

If the seperate rub thing doesn't work, you might also want to try braining the pinky (piercing the skull so that the scent comes out, apparently hatchlings like that). Btw when I say pinky I mean the mouse, not the snake! :p |

Hi. Thanks for all you input on the feeding . tried all but force feeding. didnt think that a snake should be force fed when i just bought it. It didnt feed and i thought enough is enough. they promised me they would not just let it die, they are going to force feed it tonight. i hope it will be ok. I am a firm believer in every life deserves a chance.
Well i got another albino from the same batch and this one fed straight away. I would like to hear from people as to how often should you handle them and when not to handle them. Read books and wanted some first hand experience info to get a better idea.
