when i feed my snake her body like expands quite a bit like she's taking in a lot of air and then goes back down. is this normal? |

If its when the mouse is going down its that the mouse compresses the lung on its way down so the other parts have to work harder.
If its after the strike I think its just excitement combined with a requirement for more oxygen, Spot (and Sanke) really breathes quickly & heavily from the strike to the swallowing bit, once he starts swallowing he takes slower but deeper breaths.
I've always taken it as normal, once he has finished eating the breathing always returns to normal almost immediately |
