but she still keeps rattling her tail and tries to get away when i go to pick her up!

she's fine in my hands though once i've picked her up :)

Sounds like you have a snake! They don't like been picked up, they tolerate it once their up but will quite often postest. They soon learn its pointless though, give it time.

This is typical snake like behaviour. Just stick with it and in time the snake will know you wont be backing down xx
