hey all,
my name is steph and i am new to owning a cornsnake. my snake is called scampy and need some advice on my 18 month + cornsnake. I dont know if it is a male or female, he/she has not been eating now for 2 months. When I first had her 4 months ago she was eating a small fuzzie once every 2 weeks. Scampy has shredded fully about 3 weeks ago, now is losing weight and I can now see the spine on the snake. Scampy is very active when she is out and always testing the air for kill? last time scampy went to the toilet was 2 weeks ago and she isnt drinking but I have a pot of moss with water and also I spray the tank once aday. But I have noticed that scampy is hinding more in the cooler side of the tank which temp is about 21oc and at the top of the tank it gets up to 30oc max using a heating lamp and then at night a heat pad.
I am running out of idea's on what to do? I cut the mice open and I leave scampy in a dark enclouser on her own with the food. I cant change her feed with her being small herself?
I would send a picture but i dont know how?
please any help is better than no help.
cheers steph

Hiya, I am so sorry to hear that your corn is causing you concern, it must be very worrying when you can see them losing weight. I would imagine she isn't very big anyway if she is only eatin 1 small fuzzy every 2 weeks.
Have a look at the links Kehhlyr posted as the information you can give us will really help. Also, maybe try and offer a food item smaller than what you would normally feed. If they haven't eaten for a while their stomachs can shrink. Offering a smaller mouse got my non feeder of 22 weeks going again although he is a bigger snake than yours. You could try some reptoboost in her water as that can sometimes stimulate the appetite. First things first tho and answer the questions in the links so the easier to remedy problems can be eliminated. |

Thank you all so much for your help and advice, scampy my snake I have found out is a male and the vet states that even though he is a little under weight not to worry as he has been storing up his food. If he does not eat in the next week or so then I will have to send him back.
Also thank you for your warm welcome and I will post pictures of scampy as soon as I can!! |

Hello, Steph! Glad to hear that your vet has put your mind at ease for now, keeping my fingers crossed that Scampy will behave himself and take some food for you soon! :c They sure know how to worry you sick, huh? |
