They need a partner for the eggs to be fertile they can't fertilise their own eggs. They can also retain sperm and drop fertile eggs years later, We raised snails on their own to find out if they could breed with them self and got lots of infertile eggs not 1 fertile. With where their male and female parts are its thought they cant reach their own. We did the trial with Tigers, Fulica, Isabella, Marginata, Flemmea and iredalei over a 5 year period. There is a few other people on different forums that have done the trials and got the same results. We also had breeding groups so we could see how often the breeders dropped eggs. :) |
